Creative Tuesday: Etching

As most of you may know, I love creativity; and I have been trying lots of new projects.  I've seen a lot of projects on etching glass and it is beautiful, so, I had to try it!!

My daughter's friend is getting married next weekend so I decided to try making a set of wine glasses for them.

I decided that since this was my FIRST attempt at etching I shouldn't go out and spend a fortune on glasses that could possibly be messed up.  My local Dollar Tree had some cute wine glasses that I purchased... If I mess up, I only lost $2.

With this project I decided to make the glasses more customized with Mr. & Mrs. instead of the traditional "Bride" & "Groom" on them.

I cut out Mr. & Mrs. Mills with my machine on vinyl and peeled all of the letters out; thankfully, there wasn't any letters that needed a piece left inside the letter (e, o, g, etc).

Once I had the labels cut, I centered them on the glasses and got started...

I applied the etching cream and waited as the directions suggested.  When I washed it off I didn't think it had worked, to be honest, until I removed the vinyl.. but WOW, perfect!!

It's hard to see in the picture, but the lettering is perfect and turned out amazingly I thought.

I decorated them up with some cute bows that I had saved, which made them appear to be an expensive gift I had had made.. but I didn't.  Less than $20 invested (which I can use cream for many more projects) and less than 30 minutes of my time.

Personalized or thoughtful gifts, in my opinion, touch the heart in a different way!  I can't wait to give them to her and see her face.

I loved this project and plan to do another soon.  Next time, I promise to show the process in better detail, just incase you may want to tackle this project yourself.

Furious 7

Went to the theater tonight to watch Furious 7 and it was SOLD OUT for the 8 & 9 o'clock time slot; and there was only 1 seat left for the 10 o'clock time slot!  WOW!! That was disappointing & crazy!

I knew that Furious 7 would be a big turn out because the Fast & the Furious movies have become a huge hit; and the death of Paul Walker was so devastating!  It amazes me how technology allowed for finishing scenes for this movie; and from what I seen earlier (from a now, taken down clip) the farewell to Brian in the movie was touching and respectable. :(

I can't wait to see the full movie!!

Paul Walker was a great actor & appeared to be a great all-around guy in real life as well.  I have watched clips from interviews and just him talking about his charity, he was a really good guy that lost life too short!  I believe he could have done so much more in this world, if he'd only had more time!

The movie release of his last finished film, Hours, was set to release around the time of his death.  A film about a father that tries to keep his daughter alive during Hurricane Katrina.  I remember wanting to see this film so bad.  When it hit DVD, Red Box couldn't keep it in.  Finally, I got to watch it.. and it was a GREAT movie!  Although, I wish there would have been a "1 year later" clip added at the end!

You can watch the full movie below..

One of so many EXCELLENT movies that Paul Walker was apart of; in my opinion!
I can't wait to see the last film of his career, Furious 7, I'm sure it will be an emotion journey seeing his Final Ride! :(
